Welcome

This is Lionel.

This fall I had a yard sale and Lionel's Father and very pregnant Mother stopped by. They had only been in NY a month or so. We invited them to sit and we became their first NY friends. I had Lionel's Mommy, Anna write their number on a slip of paper, which I ended up losing. But the thought of them and whether the baby had arrived occurred often.

Then today my doorbell rang.

The 2, now 3. =)

They were here 3 hours and the baby never cried or fussed. He is beautiful and with such an amazing temperment, we should all be so lucky.

Late Last Night...

...I played 'Tourist'.

It wasn't as crowded as it looks.

My first time at Rockerfeller Center since I was 10 or so.

8 seconds on a random street as a bus passed by.

The Museum of Natural History.

Sunday night at midnight the city is so quiet.

Sometimes, when someone has been raised here, you become immune to the sights some people will only ever see on TV or in movies, and you feel an urge to appreciate the city the way a visitor would.

Just because you have the luxury of doing so at whim.

My house is covered in glitter now

It's odd. This year, while putting Christmas novelties out...I realized I had actually accumulated a decent amount of stuff the past few years.

Some more of the oh-so
horrifying/wonderful: proof of adulthood.

Snippets of my favorite little things:

Pine Cone Lights.

Silver and Gold.

Vintage Elves.

Gift Box Lights.

Stained Glass Tree.

Jingle Bell Wreath.

Red Tinsel Tree.

And This Little Polar Bear.

I'm trying to keep the way the apartment normally looks intact. Incorporating holiday decorations, without displacing anything.

As boxing up the things that I love and live with all year round, would drive me crazy. =)

Because When I'm 80...I'll Be Glad I Did.

Gain Weight
Lose Weight.
Grow Hair
Cut Hair.
Change Clothes.
Change Make Up.
Notice Proof of Aging.
Etc Etc To Infinity.

I don't know what it is...maybe I was just born with an intense need to document and preserve events and images...myself included. Or its a trait I lack...I never recognize myself as myself.

So I need constant reminding.

Slightly different versions of myself:

I think when I'm a little old lady...I will be pleased with my ability to make myself look cuter in photos than I do in real life. ;)

These 4 minutes took 4 hours

I went down to Virginia with one of my bffs, to see the people I adore down there: Billy, Sally, Jack and the most awesome Nuns you'll ever meet.

5 days condensed into 4 minutes.

...I constantly make goofy faces.

Blues, Taken From A Moving Car

Some more of my pictures.

...The upcoming holiday has me running around like....something that runs around a lot but isn't as cliche as that headless chicken thingy. =)

Takata Takata Takata...

...The sound of furious typing.

I was given this necklace as a gift last night. It is made of vintage type writer keys. If you know me at all, you know owning odd-ball things like this makes me super happy.

Around $20. Made by Ms. Harriet of The Type Is Write, who unfortunately doesn't have a website yet.

But you can find similar antique/vintage type writer key jewelry here, along with some other peculiar items refashioned as jewelry =)

hooray for uniqueness.

I Went Down To My Corner Deli

And walked out with this:

I was told they had a sick kitten. That she had pretty severe tremors. So having a lot of pet and a tiny bit of veterinary experience...I went to see her, as I was told she was way too little to be on her own as well.

Got there. Ask if I can hold her for a second. The deli owner hands her to me and says "Take it." and walks away. (shame on him!)

I put her in my coat and left. Got home: no more shaking! I think it is just a nervous reaction.

So now I have this teensy little thing in my bedroom. =) I'm calling her Lucy.

Yes I wrapped her a blanket...I'm lame, I know.

But if anyone in the Boroughs or Jersey or Upstate want her or know anyone who does...let me know!

And I don't mean wants her like wants a kitten, but barely takes care of it when it is older...I mean someone who is a super pet nerd and will keep her forever =)

Yawn

So I have nothing oh-so-earth shattering to say...or any new idea to show off...as my brain is t i r e d.

But I will just roll with my previous post and post a few pics of Ny's lights at night and the various ways I've shot them =)

Click to magnify.

Five second exposure from the windshield of a moving car on the West Side Highway.

30 seconds at Long Island City's piers

uuum I don't remember how long....in Times Square.

Blogging A Go Go

...Everything sounds better with "A Go Go" after it.

Everything.

This is one of the few concrete, inarguable, laws of life.

...So as though I don't have a zillion projects going at once, I decided to start a blog.

This will be where my various endeavours and interests occasionally land, or quite possibly, it will serve as another excuse for my lack of focus.

Speaking of lack of focus (oooOOOh smooth segueway)...

...New York City traffic tonight (in Midtown and going over the 59th St. Bridge)...presented as abstractly as my new digi cam's manual focus allows...

sigh. I <3 it here.
