My Grandma

She moved. She has limited room so we all got to keep some of her things for her.

Here's the first 3 shots I've done.

The bunnies were really hard to get done and I'm not super fond of the results but still...
The background is a nightie of hers.
The teapot is a music box that plays "Tea for Two" when you pour.

Adorable limit: Exceeded.

Grandma's doll.
Her Mother, Emma's thimble on a book of fairy tales marked 1915:

I found out Little Red Riding Hood was originally called Little Golden Hood.

Oh I lied

Here are three random pictures:

My bff Luis the last time I saw his dapper ass before he left NY =(

Oliver just doing what Oliver does: Being smug.

And this I did as desktop background. DL it if you feel so inclined and nerdy.

Now I want to play duck hunt...

A few weeks ago

I was in VA again.

Didn't feel too well, so I didn't get much done.

But I met this doggy and his owner.

Loyalty to infinity.

He is super proud to show off his fetching abilities.
(click and enlarge to see the expression on his face or live knowing you've missed out on seeing the true meaning of 'pride'.)

I took a walk in the woods.

Then met this owl.
Took this picture.
And watched him fly away 45 seconds after.

The woman rehabbing him had no idea he could fly.

And he was all:

"Underestimate me?
Pfffffft.
I'll show you, lady."

I. was. SHOCKED.

Beyond shocked.

Flabbergasted.

$$$$!

Financial district

Wide angle lens...you came just in time.

The boys after work:
The past 48 hours have been difficult/amazing.

Two different projects.

This one and a super undercover one to be revealed at a later date.

And step one of a third project to be revealed at a much much much later date.

I am in love with this week.

I'm the Rumpelstiltskin

Of blogging.

I haven't updated this badboy in forever because, well...um

I really haven't been shooting as much.

This winter was kinda hideous.

Oddly enough spring wasn't too pretty either.

But for my Birthday I got a Nikon D90
and things are looking up.

I'm trying to get into more portrait work, get my website up and running and be more social. (and by "more social" i mean: less anti-social)

And bee-tee-dubbles:

I totally spelled Rumpelstiltskin right on the first try.

It's the small victories in life isn't it?

Ps. yes this is dated March instead of May because I used a draft blog I had started back then because I am lazy and not entirely in it to win it today.

Strangest

two weeks
E V E R.
So in my various activities, I found myself 35 stories up on a rooftop.
Petrified.
(hey there childhood fear of heights long time no see!)
Exhausted.
(note to self: you like sleep. you are no longer 19. staying out all night is tiring.)

Staring at my favorite building in Ny.

(only chumps don't click to enlarge)

Sounds trite, but this exact picture has lived in my head for years.
I just never had the vantage point to take it from.

An open letter to my laptop

Hey Laptop,
I don't know what I did to you...
But the past 6 weeks or so of this:
"hey i'm going to work when you don't need me to!
And mysteriously stop working when you do need me to!!"
stuff is getting old.
Those 12,000 photos you're holding hostage?

I'd really love to have them back.

We can work this out.

...I hope.

So busy

Well honestly, I don't know if I'm busy or if it's just my brain that is.
Regardless, I am overwhelmed.

But sort of in a good way.

We went into Brooklyn last night.

I got screamed at by a cyclist for this shot.
Apparently being 4 inches into a 6 foot wide bike lane is grounds for rage.

Who knew?!

*Btw my pageload/stat logger effed up.
Now I can't counter-stalk the person who blog-stalks me.
Lame.

Edit: i've decided i like this one better.

Edit edit: so this looks insanely bright on my laptop monitor but not on my desktop. the 1st one looks perfect here but people say it's too dark. so dont judge me. i dont know whose monitors are accurate. *angry noises*

So...uuuum....ow

I fell down the stairs.

Dislocated my left ankle and my right knee.

Graceful, I know.

So while I recover...here are 3 Ttvs from my time upstate.

Hooray being immobile.

Look what I got in the mail *Ttv time finally*

Kodak Duaflexes.

You use these to do Ttv ('through the viewfinder' in case you aren't familiar) photos.

But first you gotta build one of these:

Use a macro lens to take a photo of the Duaflex's bubble eyepiece.

And get odd, sometimes surreal, results.

I've only had them a few hours, so these are only the first few shots I've done.

I am ridiculously excited to do more.

I'm not very good at this

Older attempts:

Click to enlarge or bot flies will infest your eardrum.

Birdbath

Horse.

That weird place we always end up, in VA

The house.

Tonight in Long Island City:

I heart NY

Boat on the river.

I typed out what each is, because I think maybe the only reason I can tell what they are, is because I did them. Oh sweet insecurity.

Sooooo...

My LEDs are eh. My skills are eh. +This is harder than it looks.

Tonight was an hour and a half of work, 27 images, & only 2 that weren't God awful.

In over a year of doing these, this post contains the best I've produced.

*shame*

Heading upstate tomorrow.

If you're bored...

It's 'cause you're boring.

ps. my kodak duaflex is on the way.

i=obnoxiously excited!

This is

Every picture Tom takes of me (when I let him hold the camera).

*scroll past this nonsense for actual photos*

I just thought I'd share his brilliant talent, if only to make you appreciate my photos a touch more in contrast.

"Hey Meg, compared to that guy who sucks, you're AMAZING!".

Oh I know I'm amazing...compared to that guy who sucks.

And now we can all mock me for being nearly the same shade of white as my dress.

Let's all do that.

Or not.

(I don't even know who "we" is...)

Anywhooooo...

Here is Chinese Virgin Mary and Chinese Baby Jesus
(as seen in Chinatown.)

Click to enlarge or reawaken the dead igniting a zombie world war of sorts.

Poor baby Jesus and his mitten shaped hand. Bet he got a lot of flack for that.

Later...

We went to Washington Square Park. (which despite the appearance of the photos, was paaaaaaaaacked)

And while we sat on the new benches, listened to a group of street musician's play "On Broadway", and watched a guy ride a unicycle with a tourist on his shoulders,

I looked at Tom and said:

"We're really lucky we live here."

Today While Leaving

Color Me Mine in Manhattan, Thomas spazzed and took us into Brooklyn.

We do not live in Brooklyn.

But while heading home on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, I saw the tip of the top of a ferris wheel.

Me: OH MY GOD A CARNIVAL!

(I am easily excited and a loud mouth.)

It's been done a million times before:

but not by me.

Click to enlarge or risk ring worm infection. FACT.

Today was lovely.

I haven't been to a carnival in forever.

My feet hurt.

But it's always nice to finally take pictures you've intended to for forever.

I want to live in a dollhouse.

Or a snow globe.

...

Ocean Grove, NJ.

About 1 mile by mile.

These

houses

are

incredible.

But this one is by far my favorite:
